After the work was started by the Send company at the end of October, the newly identified problems had to be overcome. The four rollers of the two floating bearings of the bridge were to be made operational again as planned by means of sandblasting, metal coating and lathe work.
However, the execution of this work had to be aborted because the rollers were so badly corroded that machining on the lathe was not possible. As a consequence, four new bearing rollers had to be made.
Heavily corroded floating bearing with defective rollers on the right, hydraulic lifting device on the left.
