New feasibility study on the reactivation of the Wiehl Valley Railway - actual state of affairs

 While last year we had still expressed the hope that the commissioning for a new feasibility study for the reintroduction of regular passenger services on the Wiehl Valley Railway could take place in the first quarter of this year and that the first results of the study would be available before the end of the year, this hope has unfortunately vanished into thin air.

Resumption of service in 2023 on the Wiehl Valley Railway

 After traffic on the Wiehl Valley Railway was suspended first because of Corona and then because of a closure of the "Guild Bridge (Zunftbrücke)" in Wiehl-Bielstein, the steam train of the "Bergischer Löwe" of the IG Bw Dieringhausen is scheduled to start again at Easter 2023.

Nearly 50,000 tonnes of beetle wood shipped from Osberghausen in 2021

Open Monument Day on September 11th, 2022

 The "Society for the Preservation of the Wiehl Valley Railway (Förderkreis zur Rettung der Wiehltalbahn e.V.)" welcomed about 100 visitors to its premises at Waldbröl railway station on the "Open Monument Day" on September 11th, 2022. A photo exhibition on the subject of the Wiehl Valley Railway and the former Waldbröl state railway station provided plenty to talk about among the visitors.

Rehabilitation of the Bielstein bridge largely completed

It was done just in time for the end of the year: The repair of the Bielstein railway bridge (bridge structure 2264 - "Zunft-Brücke"), which was severely damaged by arson in the summer of 2020, is largely complete!
