A work plan - agreed by the town of Waldbröl and the preservation society - is the foundation for near- and middle-term improvement measures for the railway station area. Active members of the preservation society have worked out this plan in an multistage procedure.

The handrail at the at the station's terminal ramp - decayed by weather and vandalism - was restored as a first measure. Close attention was paid to restoration in accordance with conservation guidelines. On the one hand, this was made possible by a contribution by the town of Waldbröl from the recources of the District Savings Bank, on the other hand mid-sized businesses of the region - Metal Construction Schöpe, Steel Trader Will and the Freudenberg Galvanising Works - laid a firm basis for the outcome by their special generosity.

Furthermore, the disposal of old sleepers and excavated material (stored on the station's forefield) was taken up. For this, the builder's yard of the town of Waldbröl provided an excavator for the containerisation of the sleepers. Many thanks for this to the staff of the builder's yard! These activities will also be continued in 2021. Of course it would be fine to get it all done in one go. But this would exceed our finacial resources. So it is a good thing that the town will continue to support us.

Perspectively, also the waggons covered with graffiti will be removed, the small concrete boxes for electrical equipment will be moved to the materials store and much more will be changed. As the town of Waldbröl is engaged in activity to re-model Station Street (Bahnhofstraße) we will do our bit to upgrade the location "Waldbröl Station.".
